Man sought in Tampa Fifth Third Bank robbery

Tampa, Florida -- Tampa Police are asking for the public's help identifying the man who robbed a Fifth Third Bank in Tampa Tuesday.

Deputies say on Oct. 8, around 4:40 p.m., a man walked into the bank in the 2200 block of E. Fowler Avenue, handed the teller a demand note implying he had a gun on him. He then took off with an unknown amount of cash.

Claim your stolen lawn equipment at Hillsborough Sheriff's Office

Tampa, Florida -- The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office will be conducting a viewing of the recovered lawn equipment that has yet to be identified by an owner on Saturday, Oct. 12.

The equipment was recovered back in August 2012, during a bust of involving four men who stole trucks and trailers containing equipment and then took them to a "storage location" to be sold before ditching the truck and trailers.

The viewing will be held at the HCSO Evidence Section, located at 2316 Falkenburg Road in Tampa, from 8:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

Valrico man arrested for child porn possession

Valrico, Florida -- A Valrico man was arrested Tuesday on multiple counts of child pornography possession following a lengthy investigation.

Hillsborough Sheriff's deputies say Timothy Heintzel was arrested following a month-long investigation that resulted in a search of his home on Abbey Grove Drive. 

During the search, detectives found a substantial amount of child pornography depicting children as young as three years old engaged in sexual activities or lewd positions on his computer.

Tips lead to driver's arrest in fatal hit and run

Dover, Florida -- Hillsborough Sheriff's deputies have arrested the driver sought in the fatal hit and run of an elderly man walking across a Dover road Monday afternoon.

Deputies say numerous tips received from the community helped them locate the Ford Ranger sought in the accident and the owner of the vehicle, 30-year-old Ryan Pottinger, who was arrested at his home Tuesday.

Rapes reported on USF Tampa campus

Tampa, Florida -- USF Police are investigating reports of two rapes at residence halls on the school's Tampa campus.

The Tampa Bay Times reports in both cases the victims knew their attackers. One of the attacks reportedly occurred in Juniper-Poplar Hall on Sunday and the other occurred a month ago in Castor Hall, but was only reported on Monday.

No arrests have been made at this time.

14-year-old testifies in teacher sex trial

Seffner, Florida -- Testimony began Tuesday in the case against a former Mango Elementary School teacher accused of having sex with a former student.

Ethel Anderson, who at one time was so highly regarded she won the Diversity School Teacher of the Year in 2011 for being one of the school's best, now faces several charges. 

Prosecutors say Anderson offered to tutor the boy at her Riverview home back in December 2011, and that's where the sexual acts occurred. She was arrested three months later.

Gunman shoots passenger sitting at traffic light

Palm River-Clair Mel, FL -- Hillsborough County deputies are searching for a gunman who allegedly shot a passenger in a F-150 truck on Monday at the intersection of U.S. 301 and Causeway Blvd. just after 6:00 p.m.
