Woman recovering after machete attack by grandson

Plant City, FL -- Deep machete wounds to her arms and face.

A Plant City woman is recovering after she was attacked by her own grandson over the weekend.

Neighbors were worried something awful might happen to Barbara Harvey, but at 75 she had been worried she would need someone to look out for her, even if that someone was -- as neighbors put it -- her "deadbeat grandson."

Double murder remains unsolved, one year later

Tampa, Florida -- Tampa Police is asking for the public's help to generate leads in an unsolved double murder case. Friday, they held a press conference where family members of the victims spoke out and also pleaded for help.

"Just knowing that I won't have her to be there for me and I won't have her for my son," said Tiana Vause, who is nearly eight months pregnant, in between tears. Her mother, Vickie Sterling, was murdered exactly one year ago.

Cops search for AT&T burglar

Sebring, Florida -- The Highlands County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in trying to identify a man spotted on security video burglarizing the AT&T store on US 27 in Sebring.

Detectives say the man appears to be younger, with an "Afro-style haircut", small sideburns and a short beard. He was last seen wearing long white cargo shorts, a light blue hooded sweatshirt and purple and white sneakers.

Cops: Man exposed himself to teens at carnival

Wesley Chapel, Florida -- A Pennsylvania man was arrested Friday evening for allegedly exposing himself to a group of teenagers at a carnival.

A group of young teens told Pasco Sheriff's deputies 55-year-old Stephen Racik stopped his car as he was driving past them while they were at the carnival on Paseo Drive. He then "arched his back, exposed himself and shook it before driving off," according to the police report.

City of Tampa plant worker arrested for sex with minors

Tampa, Florida -- Tampa Police have arrested a man they say engaged in sexual acts multiple underage girls he took advantage of.

Tampa Police say a co-worker of 68-year-old Demetrio Rivera had recently notified a supervisor that Rivera was possibly engaging in illegal activity. The City's Human Resources Department then contacted police and an investigation was launched.

An undercover detective started as a new employee and a co-worker of Rivera's to establish a relationship with him. 

Woman robbed at gunpoint at ATM wants to help others

Temple Terrace, Florida -- Going to an ATM is something most of us have done; maybe you never even think of the possible dangers.

That was the situation on March 28, when a woman was robbed at the Wells Fargo Bank at 9775 N. 56th Street in Temple Terrace.

"He said, 'Give me your money, give me your money,' and I started screaming," the woman told 10 News over the phone. The robbers are still on the loose and 10 News agreed not to identify the victim.

Woman accused of recruiting minor for prostitution

Temple Terrace, Florida -- A call regarding an attempted robbery on March 31 lead to the arrest of a woman who allegedly recruited an underage girl for prostitution.

Once Temple Terrace Police officers learned a robbery had not occurred at a Ramada Inn hotel room on Morris Bridge Road, they discovered information that led them to believe prostitution had been occurring at the room after they made contact with an underage girl in the room at 11:46 p.m.
