Tampa man arrested for DUI-related death of 5-year-old girl

Tampa, FL -- On Friday night, July 1, 52-year-old Rolando Rojas, of 1220 East Crenshaw Street in Tampa, was involved in a serious traffic crash at the intersection of US Hwy 301 and Bloomingdale Avenue that sent several people to area hospitals.  

According to the FHP, during the initial portion of the investigation it was determined that Rojas had been driving under the influence and was placed under arrest at Tampa General Hospital.

He was being guarded there while he received medical care for injuries he sustained in the crash.   

Following his release from TGH, Rojas was taken to the Hillsborough County/Orient Road Jail where additional charges were filed against him following the death of 5-year-old victim, Lilly Mills, of Brandon, on Saturday, July 2. 

The charges now include DUI Serious Injury, Vehicular Homicide, DUI Manslaughter, Reckless Driving involving Serious Injury, four counts of DUI involving property damage, and DUI. 

Bond for Rojas now exceeds $60,000; however, for the charge of DUI Manslaughter he is being held without bond.
