Father and son shot in two home invasions, suspects sought

Plant City, Florida -- Hillsborough Sheriff's deputies are searching for two men who shot a man, kidnapped him and then drove him to his parents' house and shot his father.

Deputies say the two men showed up at the home of Vincent Shakes and his girlfriend Michele Hargrove on Colson Road, fired a couple shots inside and then tied up Hargrove.

They then forced Shakes into their vehicle and drove to Shakes' parents' house in the 5700 block of Horton Road. Once at the home, they tried to force their way inside as Leaford Shakes tried to hold the door closed. One of the men then fired several rounds through the opening in the door, hitting Leaford in the upper body.

Leaford and Vincent, who was shot in the foot, were both taken to Tampa General Hospital. Their conditions are not known at this time.

Police are still searching for the two men who are described as black males, around 5'7" with a slender build and wearing hoodies during the crime. They were last seen driving a silver Dodge Durango.

Detectives say the suspects knew where Vincent's parents lived and this is not believed to be a random crime. The investigation is ongoing.
