Lake Placid residents arrested in tax fraud case

Lake Placid, Florida- Last week Special Agents with the Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation arrested two Lake Placid residents and a third suspect turned himself in on charges relating to income tax fraud. 

The indictment from the United States Attorney's Office, Middle District of Florida, accuses defendants Desmond Holden, Kinjonah Coston, and Otavis Jones, of participating in a scheme to fraudulently obtain federal income tax refunds by preparing and filing false tax returns.

The case was originally investigated by Detective Barbara Hair of the Highlands County Sheriff's Office, and was subsequently turned over to the Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation. 

Holden and Coston were arrested in Highlands County by Special Agents with the Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation, accompanied by Highlands County Sheriff's Deputies. Otavis Jones turned himself in to authorities.
