Children removed from filthy home, parents arrested
Crime

Wesley Chapel, Florida -- The parents of two young children are in jail and their children taken away after police found them living in deplorable conditions in a Wesley Chapel apartment.

Pasco Sheriff's deputies say a neighbor called them after they found the 4-year-old walking alone in the parking lot wearing nothing but her underwear late Sunday night. The neighbor took the child to her home and called police.

When police arrived at the child's home on Ryerson Circle, Evan Ferguson answered the door and told police he didn't know the child had gotten out. He told deputies there was another child in the home with them and when he brought them to his bedroom they found the 1 1/2-year-old lying on the floor next to his crib covered in feces.

According to the report, the home with filthy and several beer bottles were found in the bedroom. Ferguson told police he had been asleep.

Deputies caught up with their mother, Angela Walsh, at the Waffle House where she works and she told deputies the child left the home while she was asleep. She also admitted to the conditions of the home.

Walsh, 24, and Ferguson, 26, were each arrested on two counts of child neglect without great bodily harm.

Children and Family Services removed the children from the home.
