Hillsborough, Florida- Lakeland Police Officers arrested a Plant City man on  Wednesday, June 20 for the attempted murder of his wife that took place just two days before. 

According to Hillsborough County Sheriff's officials, Dawn Young,33, awoke at her home in Plant city on June 18, to find herself covered in her own blood with her husband, Christopher Young, 44, standing beside her. 

He quickly fled the scene with the his wife's cell phone, preventing her from calling for help. 

HCSO tells us Dawn Young drove herself to South Florida Baptist Hospital in Plant City,  from which she was transferred to St. Joseph's Hospital.  She is being treated there for multiple fractures to her skull.

Hillsborough County detectives issued a warrant for Christopher Young's arrest for attempted murder, and officers of the Lakeland Police Department arrested him, and booked into the Polk County jail.

After being questioned by Hillsborough County detectives, Christopher Young admitted to striking his wife in the head with a hammer.
