Police arrest wife, son of Plant City shooter | Crime
Plant City, Florida -- Detectives have arrested two more people in connection with the Plant City shooting on May 20 at Woodbridge Apartments.
Authorities say Giovanna Blanco and Luis Acosta, Jr., along with Luis Acosta, Sr., had an ongoing relationship with one of the four shooting victims, Hugo Alvarez.
On the night of the shooting, police say around 6:30 Alvarez went to an apartment he was staying at to get some of his things when he was confronted by Blanco. They started to argue and Blanco left briefly and came back with a baseball bat. As Alvarez tried to leave with his four friends, Acosta, Sr. and his son showed up.
Acosta, Sr. fired multiple gunshots into the car, hitting four people. A woman, who wasn't shot, ran from the car and Blanco ran after her with baseball bat in hand. Acosta, Jr. then walked up to the car and hit Alvarez multiple with another baseball bat.
Blanco, 36, and Acosta, Jr., 14, were arrested on Thursday night on warrants in Kissimmee. Blanco is being charged with Aggravated Assault and Acosta, Jr. with Attempted Murder.
Detectives are still searching for Luis Acosta, Sr. He is wanted on four counts of Attempted Murder and one count of Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle.
