Man stabbed to death after fight at club

Tampa, Florida -- Deputies say a fight between two men after they were kicked out of a popular night club escalated into a deadly stabbing in front of a Tampa gas station.

Authorities say the stabbing happened shortly before 3 a.m. Friday outside the Citgo station on Highway 301 and MLK. 24-year-old Benjamin Edelbeck collapsed near the gas station's front door and died.

A short time earlier, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says Edelbeck had been in the VIP room at the Dallas Bull night club along with 27-year-old Brian Andrews and another person.

All three were kicked out after security suspected they were smoking marijuana.  They got into an argument with each other in the club's parking lot over having to spend $150 to reserve the VIP room they were now expelled from.

The arguing continued as they drove from the club together, and eventually the third person, who was driving, pulled into the gas station and said either Edelbeck and Andrews needed to get out, or he would.

Investigators say Edelbeck and Andrews did get out and then proceeded to get into a physical fight with one another. The fight was reportedly caught on the gas station's surveillance video, which has not been released publicly.

During the fight, Edelbeck was stabbed once in his upper torso, and died at the scene. Gas station employees called 911 and arriving police found Andrews on scene with blood on his hands and clothing. A blood-stained metal folding knife was found nearby.

Andrews was arrested and charged with second degree murder.
