Get ready for the Shake it for Tourette's Zumbathon

Tampa, FL -- This Saturday you can Zumba with your friends while helping to raise money for the Tourette Syndrome Association.


It's all part of the inaugural Shake it for Tourette's Zumbathon being held at the Ritz Ybor.


The 2-hour benefit starts at 10 a.m. and Zumba instructors Susan Zapata, CJ Egalite and Jerry Haughton are scheduled to be on hand to help first time dancers.

Sponsers needed for Italian Invitational Golf Tournament

Tampa, FL --  The 34th Annual Italian Invitational Golf Tournament will be held in Westchase this year at the beautiful Westchase Golf & Country Club on May 7.


This is one of Tampa's longest running charities that's raised more than $670,500 over the last 33 years for organizations like St. Joseph's Hospital, All Children's Hospital and the Human Development Center.

Westchase student raises $4,100 for cancer research

Tampa, Florida --  He may not be not be old enough to drive a car, but 13-year-old Brett Steinfeld has managed to round up his fellow Westchasers to raise thousands of dollars for cancer research.

He brought back the "Amazing Race for Life" this year, which is modeled after the popular CBS TV show, and managed to raise $4,100 with the help of his friends and neighbors.

Steinfeld says he was inspired by his grandfather.

Apollo Beach, FL -- The 4th Annual South Shore Cares Walk-a-thon is Saturday, March 5.


South Shore Cares is a charity committee of Keller Williams Realty South Shore in Apollo Beach and Sun City Center which supports a different local charity each year.


This year the organization is supporting the new community cultural center.

Golfing for a Dream Tournament

Valrico, FL -- Now's the time to register for the Golfing for a Dream Tournament. It will be held next month at Bloomingdale Golfers Club in Valrico. Paralympic Sport Tampa Bay is hosting the annual golf tournament as a fundraiser.


Registration fee for this four-person scramble tournament is $75 per person and includes greens fee, cart, range balls, golfer gift pack, tournament banquet and awards. Registration is limited to 100 golfers.


Trophies will be presented to the top three teams. Awards will be given to the following categories: Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive, Putting Contest, Hole-In-One Contest.

Westchase schools raise money for fallen officer's family

Oldsmar, Florida --  The Farnell Middle School PTSA teamed up with other Westchase area schools to raise money for the family of fallen St. Petersburg Police Officer Yaslowitz.

The officer's wife taught at nearby Forest Lakes Elementary School, which also participated in the fundraiser.

The PTSA website says the "Wear Yellow Day" fundraiser helped raise more than $9,000 for the officer's wife and children.  Students were allowed to wear yellow in exchange for a donation, rather than their school uniforms.

New Anti-Graffiti Unit will clean up local area tomorrow

New Anti-Graffiti Unit will clean up local area tomorrow

Plant City, FL -- Hillsborough County Code Enforcement inspectors is launching a cleanup with their new Anti-Graffiti Unit to cleanup areas in eastern Hillsborough County on Friday, Feb. 25.

The cleanup will begin at 9 a.m. starting on Holloway Road a few blocks north of Turkey Creek Road which is north of Hwy 60 near Plant City and Valrico.

The Hillsborough County Code Enforcement held an unveiling ceremony for the new Unit to help fight against dangerous gang graffiti this past Wednesday morning.

The $103,000 anti-graffiti truck was purchased through a state justice assistance grant, with no county tax dollars being spent. The new logo design on the truck shows the Comprehensive Anti-Gang Initiative (CAGI) partnership and provides a number for citizens to call and report gang graffiti.
