Tampa, FL -- Habitat for Humanity of Hillsborough County Florida, Inc. has announced the beginning of infrastructure work at Providence Pointe, Habitat Hillsborough’s newest subdivision.

The purchase and infrastructure development of the property, which lies along the eastern shore of the Tampa Bypass Canal, were made possible by a partnership with Hillsborough County through funds from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).

The 3-acre property is situated on the southeastern side of Radio Lane in Tampa.  The single-family development highlights green building and 15 charming, bungalow-style homes.  Habitat Hillsborough offers floorplans featuring 2 to 5 bedrooms with 2 baths, based on family size.

Habitat homes in Providence Pointe will feature an open kitchen/dining/living room area, large laundry and linen closets, a walk-in master bedroom closet, as well as tile flooring throughout the homes.

Habitat homeowners will be able to choose from several color packages to personalize their home’s exterior.  They will also have the following energy-efficient features: Whirlpool EnergyStar appliances, compact fluorescent lighting, energy-efficient windows and doors, low-flow faucets and toilets, and Florida-friendly landscaping.

“Our steadfast vision,” said Brian Hastings, Habitat Hillsborough Executive Director, “is a community that offers safe, efficient and comfortable homes for families in Hillsborough County.”

To achieve that vision, Habitat for Humanity partners with organizations from the local community for home sponsorships and volunteers.

To launch the neighborhood, the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity of Hillsborough County Florida, Inc. will host the premiere of Providence Pointe Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 10 a.m.

The event will feature various construction-related activities, as well as speakers such as Congressman Dennis Ross, Jim Kerkvliet, VP of Sales and Marketing at Gerdau, Habitat Hillsborough’s Board Chair, and a Habitat homeowner.
