Hillsborough County, Florida-- The Hillsborough County Women's Hall of Fame luncheon and induction ceremony is set to take place on Thursday, March 28, and organizers say tickets for the exciting event are still available for purchase. 

The luncheon, which will honor three remarkable women, will be held at the Tampa Convention Center, 333 S. Franklin St. in Tampa from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

According to the Commission on the Status of Women, three distinguished women will be inducted into the Hillsborough County Women’s Hall of Fame that day.

  • Dottie Berger MacKinnon, former Hillsborough County Commissioner who has dedicated her life to children as a founder of Joshua House, Friends of Joshua House, Kids Charity of Tampa Bay, and A Kid's Place.
  • Deanne Dewey Roberts, an advocate for creating business opportunities in Tampa Bay, founder of the now ChappellRoberts Public Relations firm, and former chair of the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce. Roberts was a mentor to young professionals. She lost her battle to cancer in January 2012.
  • Juel Hickman Shannon Smith, a driving force at the University of South Florida as Founding Executive Director of the USF Women in Leadership & Philanthropy Program, and Founding Executive Director of the USF Institute of Black Life and the Center for Africa and the Diaspora.
