Hillsborough County Seeks sponsors for Hack-A-Thon

Hillsborough County, Florida-- The first Hillsborough Hack-A-Thon  is set for next month, and county reps say they're seeking businesses with an interest in "becoming champions for innovation" to sponsor the event.

The Hack-A-Thon will take place at the HCC Campus in Brandon on the weekend of April 12 - 14. Sponsorships will cover the necessary costs of advertisement, event space, prizes, food for the participants and other event-related expenses.

Organizers say businesses have several sponsorship levels to choose from, starting at $250, and topping off at $1,000. Sponsor benefits vary depending on the level, but will include the following:

  • Company logo on the Hillsborough Hack-A-Thon website
  • A15 minute presentation-time during the event
  • Logo on t-shirts
  • Banner placement
  • Recognition as champions for innovation from Hillsborough County

Powered by County-provided live data, organizers say event participants will have the opportunity to creatively build apps with the main goal being to demonstrate the potential impact of open data, and technological development on the local economy.

All college students and community designers or developers are welcome to attend, and may register online through April 4.

Organizations interested in becoming sponsors should visit the Hillsborough Hack-A-Thon website at www.hackhillsborough.com, or for additional information, contact Kemly Jiménez Green, Communications and Digital Media Services Department at 813-276-2677.
