Tampa, Florida -- This summer, young entrepreneurs wanting to start their own business and make money before school resumes can gain an advantage at Forward Thinking Initiatives' (FTI) Teen Business and Innovation Camps at MOSI.

FTI, a Tampa Bay nonprofit, teaches entrepreneurship, innovation and creative thinking to teens. The organization has partnered with MOSI to provide programs for middle and high school students, beginning with four fun-filled, hands-on camps in the museum's Idea Zone this June.

The Idea Zone is MOSI's new, do-it-yourself laboratory that allows people of all ages to explore, learn and have fun.

"We're very excited to partner with such a highly respected organization as MOSI and serve as a junior incubator for kids in our community," said Debra Campbell, founder and president of FTI.

FTI's summer camps at MOSI, designed for students going into grades 6 -12, aim to inspire kids to come up with products and services and then build businesses around their ideas.

"The ultimate goal is for the Idea Zone to be a center for invention and innovation," said Anthony Pelaez, MOSI's director of education. "We want the Idea Zone to be seen as a hub where young minds come together and a place that is generating entrepreneurs for the future."

During FTI's two Biz Innovation Station camps (June 11-15 and June 18-22 from 9-11:30 a.m.), kids learn how to build a company around their product.

During the two afternoon Biz Kids camps (June 11-15 and June 18-22 from 12:30 - 3 p.m.), teens learn how to start their own company with a business plan.

"Teens who attend both the morning Biz Innovation Station camp and afternoon Biz Kids camp will get the most out it," said Campbell. "And each camp is different, so teens can attend all four."

Camp registration is $250 per camp, and MOSI members who sign up for two camps receive $50 off. Campers can register online at www.campfun.org.
