HCC Guitar Series: Irina Kulikova

Tampa, Florida - Acclaimed classical guitarist Irina Kulikova will perform March 4th at the Hillsborough Community College Dale Mabry Student Services Auditorium at 8pm.

The visit is part of the HCC Guitar Series. HCC says the audience will be stunned by the "rare spectrum of colurs she evokes."

The performance is free for HCC students with a Hawk Card, and $7 for the general public.

Tampa, FL -- It is a little known museum in downtown Tampa that is trying to up its profile.


The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts at 200 North Tampa Street, Suite 130 is extending its hours until 7 p.m. on Feb. 17 and March 17.


Normally, the museum closes at 5 p.m.


However, it is sponsoring a Happy Hour event on those two days in hopes that people will come see the latest exhibition, "Natural Fashion: Art and the Body, Photographs by Hans Silvester".


In addition to beer, wine and pizza selections, there will be music by cellist Betsy Isaak.

Tampa, FL --On Saturday, Feb. 19 come experience new media art at your own pace, in and around Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park. 


Also, new to Lights on Tampa 2011, dance around, bring a friend and create your own shadow play from 5:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. 

Lights on Tampa is a biennial program and a public/private partnership that opens the door for visitors and residents alike to experience artistic excellence and emerging technologies in the urban environment.


The program's goal is to bring free access to artistic excellence to Tampa's citizens and visitors through a unique experience.


A blend of art and technology, the program features the talents of local, national and international artists commissioned by Tampa's Public Art Program, the private sector through Friends of Tampa Public Art and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts.



Millions of people experienced Lights on Tampa 2006 and 2009, and this award-winning program will again put the spotlight on downtown Tampa, to continue its mission to engage, entertain and educate the community.

Ruskin, FL - Teenagers in the Riverview, Apollo Beach and Ruskin areas can take part in an evening of Anime and Manga by spending time with other kids who love to read Japanese Manga and watch Anime straight from Japan.

The event is set for this Thursday night from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the SouthShore Regional Library's community room at 15816 Beth Shields Way in Ruskin.

Valrico, FL -- Learn about the greats on Thursday, Feb. 10 during a multimedia experience on the history of jazz.

The multimedia program for adults will feature PowerPoint slide shows, live performance examples, lecturing, and samples of historically significant sound recordings from several jazz icons including: Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and others.

A Q & A session will follow the performance.

The event will be held at the Bloomingdale Regional Public Library, 1906 Bloomingdale Ave., in Valrico from 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Echoes of Love concert to feature actress Katherine Michelle Tanner

Tampa, FL -- Noted actress Katherine Michelle Tanner in a self-written and directed solo musical theatre peon to Love.


Featuring standards as well as original material and accompanied by piano and acoustic guitar.


Tanner is know in the bay area for her critically acclaimed performances with resident professional theatre companies such as American Stage Company, Gorilla Theatre and Stageworks Theatre.


Among these performances include the title role in Jane Eyre and Ophelia in Hamlet. She previously graced the Mainstage Theatre here at Hillsborough Community College with her tour de force performance of all the women in Charlie Chaplin's life in David Pomeranz's musical Chaplin.
