Tampa, Florida -- The Ybor City Museum Society's 28th annual Legacy Awards will honor three visionaries this year for their lasting economic and cultural impact on the Latin Quarter.

An awards brunch is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. this Sunday, June 24 at the Columbia Restaurant, 2117 7th Avenue in Ybor City.

According to a recent release, the 2012 awards recipients include:

  • The Fuente Family (Vicente Martinez-Ybor Award)
  • Elaine Illes (Tony Pizzo Award)
  • Anthony LaColla (Adela Gonzmart Award), who will be honored for their lasting economic and cultural impact on Ybor City, Tampa's National Historic Landmark District.

According to the Ybor Museum website, "The Vicente Martinez-Ybor Award is presented to an individual who best exemplifies his vision for Ybor City: to create a diverse, vibrant community through his or her social commitment and personal enterprise. The nominee promotes this vision by encouraging service to the Ybor community. 

The Tony Pizzo Award is presented to an individual who strives to inspire others to promote our city through government, cultural and educational participation by his or her passionate interest in preserving Ybor City's cultural history. 

The Adela Gonzmart Award is presented to an individual who best exemplifies his or her vision for Ybor City's latest innovations in business or arts development. The newest award is given to a pioneering individual who has made significant contributions to the historic district in recent years. 

Attendees will enjoy an elegant Ybor City-style brunch, classical guitar music by Mark Switzer, and the opportunity to bid on a creative selection of silent auction items.
