Forecast: Hillsborough issued Freeze Warning

Hillsborough County, FL - Wind Chill advisories and Freeze Warnings have been issued to Hillsborough. You can see the zoom radar for the area here.

A large Canadian high pressure has plummeted south into the eastern U.S. bringing cold air all the way down to Florida. We are waking up to Wind Chill Advisories this morning and Freeze Warnings for tonight and likely tomorrow night. That cold air is blowing in on northwest winds that will stay in the 10-20 mph range through this afternoon. A Wind Chill Advisory has been issued until 9 a.m. for Pasco, Hillsborough and Polk counties as it will feel like 30-35 degrees at times this morning. Skies will be clear and sunny today, but the cold air will only allow us to warm to the mid 50s today when the typical high is 73!

Christmas decorations banned at Florida toll plaza

Christmas decorations banned at Florida toll plaza

Leesburg, Florida - It seems like there are signs of the holiday season just about everywhere you look. But not in one Central Florida workplace.  Toll workers say they've been told to keep their decorations to themselves this year.

Lana Fontanetta, is originally from the Tampa Bay area. She's going to work in Leesburg dressed head-to-toe in the Christmas spirit. She says, "I had bells on my shoes earlier."

From the bells on her earrings to green and red hair scrunchies
it's her way of celebrating her favorite holiday. "Christmas is the biggest holiday and it means so much to me."

It's also her way of protesting her employer's latest rule. The single mother is a toll booth operator for the State of Florida and now she's been told work is no place for Christmas.

500 bikers turn out for this year's Cookson Toy Run

Seffner, Florida - Organizers say five hundred bikers took part in this year's annual Cookson Toy Run, which was held Sunday afternoon. The bikers rode from Veteran's Memorial Park in Tampa to Evans Park in Seffner, where hundreds of children were waiting for them.

For the past 17 years, bikers from across the Tampa Bay area have donated toys to hundreds of needy children during the event. The founders of the toy run, Bill and Sheri Brown, say if it wasn't for the bikers, many children from East Hillsborough County wouldn't have a Christmas.

Biker James Dargocey, says the toy ride is different from many of the others. "Well, it's more personal. It's more up front. You can see their faces...the happy children."

Westchase, FL - Following a private executive session on Nov. 18, the Westchase Community Association (WCA) elected to replace current Association Manager MaryJo LoCascio.

“The board of directors met in executive session regarding the performance and evaluation of personnel and, after much discussion, we decided MaryJo is not best fit for Westchase at this time," said WCA President Joaquin Arrillaga to WOW (World of Westchase). He continued, "Although we cannot get into specifics as they were addressed in executive board session, we asked GPI to transfer her to another assignment.”

LoCascio has served as association manager since June 2009, when she replaced Patty Stewart.

Armwood Runs Past Charlotte 28-12

Armwood Runs Past Charlotte 28-12

Seffner, Fl - The Charlotte Fightin' Tarpons traveled north to take on the Armwood Hawks in a battle of unbeaten teams.   The game was a rematch of last year's regional finals, which Armwood won, in Charlotte.

Early in the game, it was Armwood's defense that set the tone for the entire game. Charlotte recovered an Armwood fumble on the opening kickoff, and had the ball deep in Hawks territory.   But with first and goal from the five, Armwood's defense held, and Charlotte had to settle for a field goal.
